It goes without saying that as more and more people transition to smartphones, the app industry will only get hotter. Pew’s recent report on mobile apps provided us with a wealth of information on the subject, including use demographics, most popular apps, frequency of use, and cost/number of downloads. These numbers make it clear that apps are becoming an increasingly important part of our every day lives.

This is stupid. We’ve all been using “apps” for ages, under the name of applications, software, programs, programmes, utilities, etc etc.

    Buzzwords are stupid.

It’s the same fight the “personal computing (read as PC)” revolution went through in the days when mainframes were the standard. The “killer app” in those days turned out to be the spreadsheet. People seem to have lost sight of the fact an application sells hardware. Sexy hardware without decent programs doesn’t sell.

This is very nice but sadly – mostly useless, sadly.

Percentages are very nice, but without details about the research scope, it’s just a meaningless picture.

How many people participated in the survey in total?
How many in every age group?
How was the data collected? Did the use have to sign-in to participate or was it unknowingly to him?
What’s the location of the participants and their social-economical state?

Few survey present this meaningful data.
I wish I could draw a pie-chart, showing “100% of infographics contain little info and lots of graphics. including this one.”
