Have you ever wondered how modern marketing practices came to be? Well, so did we. After doing some research, we thought it best to tell the story through the use of this visual aid.

I saw someone's tweet that said – “I like Facebook, it's the only place I don't look funny talking to a wall.”

Real estate agents are still living in the 50's and 70's when it comes to their marketing. Now it's about long tail seo, wordpress, themes, social networks, etc…

Can't say it doesn't work, but imagine how many trees we can save.

Well, its not only real estate agents, most advertising agencies down here live in the 70's, wasting customers budgets. I agree that long-tail SEO gets the best conversion rate, the rest is talking to a wall ;-)

Fantastic blog, and a great post. Seems we have come full circle, writing on walls again.

This is the shortest way of illustrating the history of marketing. I can say that marketing is plainly the by-product of the evolving lifestyle of the human race. As of now, I think its not sure yet if we aleady hit full circle for there would still be a NEXT historical future decade.

It's hard for me to see this as a full circle, not to say that “writing on walls again” is not the end I expected. We will not stop evolving, there will always be something new and original to do.

  • Msaiwn

@ johanna Who said anything about an end? This is in fact a new start. And I agree that “writing on the walls” is the stage we are at now.

Ha! Very cool graphic and plausible reasoning behind how we got to where we are today. The one thing I would have liked to have seen in a prediction. I.e. if we’ve come full circle, and are bound to repeat the process again, what (or who) will our Romans be?
