Nice infographic. Just wondering what the source of the your data is and what the user research group entails, eg, country, sample size etc. Because the age graphic is confusing. Is this 14% of the worlds18-29 year olds use twitter because this seems very high Thanks James

Source was a pew research report. And it’s specific to American adult internet users. We’re gonna update the graphic to reflect such.

Just to check… are these results from groups of worldwide respondents and the American responses a component of those wider responses? Just wondering why none of the numbers add up – 81% neither male nor female etc.

No it’s just American responses. The way to read it is: 10% of all males that are on the internet in the USA use Twitter, 9% of all females that are on the internet in the USA use Twitter.

This infographic is misleading, it could easily be read as comparing the percentages directly and without seeing the numbers the percentages relate to it’s difficult to put into context.

I agree that this infographic could be improved in design & wording. It might mislead. But on a more important issue; Pew Report says 7% of men and 10% of woman are using twitter on their Nov. 2010 research. So the numbers are not right either. I hope Ethan will check the numbers when updating the infograhic.

Also the numbers for education seem not the same as in the PEW report, where it says that with higher education you are more likely to tweet.
